Bio - Peter D Grogan

After graduating Peter commenced an accounting career with Kraft Foods Australia as an assistant accountant.   Shortly after Peter gained membership of  The Australian Society of Accountants (CPA)  and for the next 14 years gained vital accounting experience in a number of diversified industries fulfilling roles as an internal auditor, plant accountant, financial accountant and cost accountant. 

The final role Peter held in accounting was Group Management Accountant Dorf Industries. Having worked with five major companies in that period Peter gained a detailed knowledge of all facets of accounting and more importantly an appreciation of the value of a financial background in the management of a successful business.

Whilst at Dorf  Peter undertook a Graduate Diploma of Marketing at CIT (now Monash University) and at that time transferred into the marketing department at Dorf.  The study and the new work environment were life changing and within one year Peter co- founded Promotif Marketing Australia Pty Ltd and in a short space of time helped create a promotional marketing company which was quickly recognised in Australia as a market leader.  Before Promotif came into the marketplace the industry was seen as supporting “giveaways”.  Promotif changed the landscape of promotional marketing in this country by ensuring that promotional products were a well developed part ( not just a feel good add on) of building a clients brand.

As a result of their innovation the next 17 years saw a period of                 

continuous, planned and controlled growth with sales in 1999/2000

exceededing  $15m.The team had grown to 35 and long term trading partnerships had been established with many of Australia’s leading companies including  BHP, ANZ,  Boral, GMH, BP, Dulux, Mobil, Glaxo, Shell, AXA, Aust Post, Mercedes Benz, Reece and

Orica. 

 

Promotif established strategic alliances in Australia and throughout

the world, particularly in Hong Kong and Taiwan.  Promotif also gained

the Australian membership of IPPAG an internationally renowned

business group (only one company per country is offered

membership). In 2000, Promotif was sold to Corporate Express

Australia.    Peter was appointed National Manager Promotional Marketing with the charter to create Australia’s first and largest national promotional marketing company. Through various acquisitions, organic growth and green field developments, the result was achieved at the end of 2001, and projected sales 2002/03 exceeded  $35m.

 

In the intervening period Peter has established a trading company in Hong Kong, a thoroughbred breeding and racing organisation and worked as a consultant to various organizations.  More recently Peter has also provided volunteer services to the Small Business Mentoring Service, recently stepping down as Vice President whilst remaining on the Committee of Management and in 2009 joined ic leadership as a senior consultant. 

 

To work with Peter is to experience his ability to help clients sort through complex issues and distill the situation into bit sized manageable pieces which can be actioned.  Peter has a philosophy of talking straight, ensuring planning and thought has gone into the issues before hopping into action and always taking a client first approach. Clients report working with Peter gives them greater clarity, skills, confidence and motivation to take the action necessary to produce much better results -and it does.
